Linda Pettyjohn Davis, (83), died August 5, 2017 at the Seven Hills Hospice House.

Born in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Macon Michaux Pettyjohn and the late Esther Gilbert Pettyjohn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, David Randolph Pettyjohn and her stepmother, Rosa F. Pettyjohn. Her paternal grandparents were the late Walker Pettyjohn and Mary Raine Pettyjohn of Lynchburg and her maternal grandparents were the late Roy Gilbert and Stella Randolph Gilbert of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a retired teacher of Rustburg High School, Campbell County School System.

She is survived by two sons, David L. Davis and his wife Mukda, of Thailand and John W. Davis, Jr. and his wife, Alice, of Belmont, N.C.; three brothers, Macon Michaux Pettyjohn Jr. of Lynchburg, Richard G. Pettyjohn and his wife Helen, of Charlotte, N.C. and Parmelee R. Pettyjohn and his wife, Susan, of Greer, S.C. and five grandchildren, Michaux, James, Eveland, Jacob, and Ryan.

Linda endured her illness with uncommon grace and extraordinary courage while remaining resolute in her faith. We offer our thanks and gratitude to the Seven Hills Hospice staff for their care and kindness during this time.

Visitation for friends and family will be held at the Whitten Timberlake Chapel, Saturday August 12, from 2 - 4 PM. An interment service will be held at the Pettyjohn family cemetery in Amherst County, Virginia at a future date.
