James Dallas Corwin, 80 of Lynchburg passed away peacefully Monday, October 02, 2017 at his home.

James was born in Sunbury, OH, son of the late Joel F. Corwin and Victoria F. Corwin.

In addition to his wife, Marsha R. Corwin, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Ellis and recently by his "best dog he ever had", Happy. James was the last living of five children.

James became a Christian in 1975 and was a spirit-filled man. He loved his computer, playing checkers, various types of music, playing and...

James Dallas Corwin, 80 of Lynchburg passed away peacefully Monday, October 02, 2017 at his home.

James was born in Sunbury, OH, son of the late Joel F. Corwin and Victoria F. Corwin.

In addition to his wife, Marsha R. Corwin, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Ellis and recently by his "best dog he ever had", Happy. James was the last living of five children.

James became a Christian in 1975 and was a spirit-filled man. He loved his computer, playing checkers, various types of music, playing and watching sports, landscaping and gardening. James retired from the United States Navy, where he served proudly during two wars, Korea and Vietnam. His hobbies were many. His favorite was his photo "wall of fame"; which made him very proud when family or friends would visit.

James is survived by his five children, Kevin Corwin and wife Angelia, Aletha Ellis and husband Roy, Rhonda Kane and husband Rodney, Mellany Williams and husband Kurt, and Stanton Corwin. James is also survived by eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Miller Home for Girls, 2134 Westerly Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501 or Allen B. Pearson Cancer Center, 1701 Thomson Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
