Edith Arthur Anderson, 94, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, she met the late Edgar Thaxton Anderson at the gates of Heaven.

Born on June 28, 1922 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Everett Arthur and Pauline Chaney Arthur. Edith retired from Lynchburg Manufacturing. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing clothes for her family, and she loved her church. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. She also...

Edith Arthur Anderson, 94, of Lynchburg, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, she met the late Edgar Thaxton Anderson at the gates of Heaven.

Born on June 28, 1922 in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Everett Arthur and Pauline Chaney Arthur. Edith retired from Lynchburg Manufacturing. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing clothes for her family, and she loved her church. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. She also enjoyed cooking, canning and preserving and could stretch a meal to accommodate as many as came to the table.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one great grandchild, Kevin Salmon; sister, Annie Crews and husband WC; and brother-in-law, James Dawson.

Edith is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Morgan and husband Harvey; son, Allen Anderson and wife Judy; seven grandchildren: Teresa Reynolds (Mike), Cindy Irby (Don), Wendy Salmon (Jeff), Robert Anderson (Jennifer), David Anderson (Pam), Jeffrey Anderson, and Rayna Williams (Troy) and six step-grandchildren. "Nannie" also had 12 great grandchildren and 22 step great grandchildren. Her legacy continues with 8 great great grandchildren; and 13 step great great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Floyd Arthur, Jr. and wife Marie; sisters, Peggy Martin and husband Thomas and Kitty Mae Dawson; and numerous other family members.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Earnest Carey officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
